SpO2 full form in medical term is peripheral capillary oxygen saturation. Sp02 is a term used by medical professionals to measure the amount of oxygen present in a person’s blood. You can measure the oxygen amount using a fingertip monitor, or a multiparameter monitor as well. Both give almost the same rating, but the multiparameter monitors usually provide other information like the average heart rate and other measures about the body. The average Sp02 in a person’s blood should be more than 96% at all times and a lower value can indicate certain types of blood issues like anemia.
Purification of blood is done in two different types, one is by removing toxins from the blood which is done by the Kidneys, and the other purification process is dissolving oxygen in the blood and removing other toxic gasses like Co2. And this work is done by the lungs in our body. The saturation of oxygen in our blood is very important for the whole body to function properly. Therefore, people with blood diseases need to get their SpO2 levels checked periodically.
