RBS full form in medical term is Random Blood Sugar. It’s a certain type of blood test to determine the amount of glucose or sugar present in the blood. Usually, this test is performed to check the sugar levels in a diabatic patient who’s on the medicine to treat diabetes. Many studies show that diabetes can be inherited, but most of the time, it occurs due to a bad lifestyle and the habit of eating too much sugar content or unhealthy food.
In an average person, the blood sugar level is anywhere between 80 to 140 mg/dL, if it’s more than that, it might be a sign that you’re pre-diabetic. A person with more than 200 mg/dL is a confirmed diabetic patient and needs to be treated as soon as possible because it is a life-threatening disease. Talking about the RBS test itself, the examiner just takes a 3 to 5 ml blood sample from your body and proceeds to extract the plasma out of it. Then he/she checks the extracted plasma for blood sugar levels using advanced machinery.
