PPH Full Form in Medical is Postpartum Hemorrhage. When a woman experiences excessive bleeding after giving birth, this is known as a postpartum hemorrhage. It’s extremely unusual but potentially fatal. It typically occurs within 24 hours of delivery, but can occur up to twelve weeks later. PPH affects about 1–5 out of every 100 pregnant women.
The placenta is often expelled by the uterus as it contracts after birth. As your uterus contracts, it presses on the blood veins near where your placenta was attached. Your uterine placenta develops into a vital organ that nourishes and oxygenates your unborn child via the umbilical cord.
Vessel bleeding increases if contractions are weak. It can also occur if fragments of the placenta remain attached to the mother’s uterus.
