NTCP full form in medical term is National Tobacco Control Programme. It’s a Centrally Sponsored Scheme to control tobacco consumption in India and decrease the number of deaths caused by it. NTCP or National Tobacco Control Programme was established back in 2007, and at first, it was operational in just 0ver 40 districts of 21 states in India. But now, there are over 600 districts following this programme. And since this programme came into existence, awareness has increased about the disease caused by tobacco consumption. Now there is a significant decrease in the overall tobacco production and consumption as well.
By consuming tobacco, a person pushes himself/herself towards getting severe chronic diseases such as cancer, and cardiovascular and lung diseases. The prime goal of NTCP was to establish and bring new but strict Tobacco Control Laws to the nation. Not only that, but the NTCP also ensures the proper implementation of such laws to spread nationwide awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco. NTCP is also responsible for some important activities such as Training and Capacity Building, Monitoring and Reporting, Surveys and Surveillance, etc.
