NBSU full form in medical term is Newborn Stabilization Units and introduced to increase the survival of the newborn. It was formed in 2011 under the Government of India’s Facility Based Newborn Care Guidelines, which highlight the care of sick and young newborns. In 2014, the revised FBNC mention guidance on the planning and implementation NBSUs, NBCCs, and SNCUs.
The implementation model of NBSU
Primarily, the objective was to commit to generating NBSUs and the priority of the State. Thereafter, the emphasis was on mobilizing resources for intervention by highlighting gaps and helping districts and states to uncover these. Finally, there was constant advocacy with the state to enhance the model and maintain momentum within the state.
