NABH’s full form in medical term is NABH National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers. NABH was established back in 2005 with the sole goal to improve the overall healthcare system in India. It is a certified and approved board by the Quality Council of India (QCI). NABH is responsible for setting up healthcare benchmarks for the consumer, which ultimately results in improving the country’s healthcare infrastructure.
The board gives approval to hospitals and other healthcare providers on the basis of patient care and staff care. Whenever a hospital asks for an audit for NABH certification or approval, the board mainly focuses on two major factors, the first one being the patient’s care. During the audit, the board confirms that the care consumer is receiving is top-notch and has no harmful elements involved during the process. On top of that, the second priority of NABH is to check the staff care of that hospital as well. During the audit, if a hospital follows national and international standards for both patient care and staff care, NABH provides approval in such cases. Hospitals also benefit from this because of the board approval, new opportunities unlock for growth and improvement.
