LMS full form in medical term is Leiomyosarcoma, a sort of cancer that arises from smooth muscle cells, which are spotted in various parts of the body, including blood vessels, the uterus, and the gastrointestinal tract. Leiomyosarcoma can be aggressive and difficult to treat, particularly if it has spread to other body parts. There is various radiation therapy, chemotherapy or surgery to address this condition.
Leiomyosarcoma is divided into bodily soft-tissue LMS, LMS of a vascular origin, and cutaneous/subcutaneous LMS. Initially, some people don’t experience symptoms but may experience certain signs as the tumour increases, including tiredness, pain, weight loss, nausea, vomiting, abdominal bloating, fever, a lump under your skin, etc.
This condition can affect the digestive system, causing nausea/vomiting, abdominal pain, black stools and loss of appetite. If someone has symptoms of LMS, your healthcare provider will suggest some tests. These tests include PET, computed tomography, angiography, and PET scans. Depending on various factors, recovery time from LMS can vary. Recovery may take several months to weeks.
