IFT Full Form in Medical term is Interferential Therapy. It’s a form of electrotherapy commonly utilized for pain relief. Interference therapy works by superimposing two medium-frequency currents that are slightly out of phase with one another. The low frequency produced, for instance, is 20 Hz, and this frequency is particularly beneficial in pain modulation if Circuit A has a circuit with a cadence of 4000 Hz & Circuit B has a circuit with a cadence of 3980 Hz. At the tissue intersection where two medium-frequency currents meet, a new low-frequency current is generated with a frequency equal to the disparity in frequency between the two currents.
Primarily, it is employed in the relief of persistent, acute, and postoperative discomfort. Utilizing low-frequency effects (250pps) without harmful or uncomfortable side effects is the main premise. IFT’s main benefit is that it induces actions in the tissue only where they are needed, without causing any unwanted or irritating stimulation of the skin. Muscle contraction, wound healing, and fluid retention are all improved by this method.
