ICH Full Form in Medical

What is the ICH Full Form in Medical?

ICH Full Form in Medical term is Intracerebral Hemorrhage. A severe form of stroke known as intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) results from bleeding within the brain itself

A stroke develops when blood and oxygen supplies to the brain are cut off. Hypertension, arteriovenous malformations, and head trauma are the leading causes of ICH. Stopping the profuse bleeding, removal of the clot (hematoma), and reducing pressure on the brain are the primary goals of treatment.

What else should you know about ICH?

Tiny arteries supply blood to brain regions deep within the structure. The thin walls of these arteries can easily rupture under the pressure of hypertension, allowing blood to leak into the brain. Brain herniation or compression against the skull’s hard interior can result from an accumulation of blood and fluids.

When an artery in the brain bursts, the oxygen-rich blood it carries is cut off, causing what is known as a stroke. Toxins generated from dying blood cells inside the clot further harm neurons in the immediate vicinity of the hematoma.

ICH accounts for 10% of all stroke cases. ICH is more lethal than SAH (subarachnoid hemorrhage) by a factor of 40%. African Americans & Japanese of younger and middle age are more likely to experience ICH than women of the same age. The most significant ICH risk factors are becoming older and having hypertension. After an ICH, over 70% of patients will have permanent impairments.
