DTH full form in medical is Delayed Type Hypersensitivity. Have you ever had a rash or allergic reaction to something? Maybe you broke out in hives after eating a certain food, or you got a poison ivy rash after touching the leaves of a plant. These types of reactions are caused by a process in your body called delayed-type hypersensitivity (DTH).
DTH reactions occur a few days after you’re exposed to something your body doesn’t like, such as a chemical or an infectious agent. Your immune system sends out an army of T cells, also known as “killer cells,” to attack the offending substance and get rid of it. The T cells can cause inflammation, swelling, and redness at the site of the exposure.DTH reactions are usually mild and go away on their own, but sometimes they can be more severe and require medical treatment. So the next time you have a rash or allergic reaction, just remember that it is your body’s way to protect you from foreign invaders (viruses, bacteria, allergens, etc) and keep you healthy and safe!
