DLC full form in medical term is Differential Leukocyte Count. DLC is among the most common type of blood tests that doctors suggest whenever a patient gets sick. This test can be done to get to know about the disease and its effect on the patient’s body. Differential Leukocyte Count blood test is very similar to the Total Leukocyte Count (TLC). But the actual purpose of both blood tests is quite different from one another.
There are multiple types of white blood cells present in the blood such as neutrophils, eosinophils, basophils, monocytes, and lymphocytes. And because the diseases and the drugs used for the treatment can affect the white blood cell count in the blood, that’s why DLC tests are done to determine diseases and to check the effect of drugs. It is a relatively simple blood test, where you’ll be asked for a blood sample, then the examiner will stain your blood sample with some dye. This dye only turns white blood cells into colored bodies, and then the number of white blood cells is counted for the report.
