The full form of DI in Medical is Diabetes Insipidus. This is a condition that affects the kidney of the patient, and it is not very common. In this condition, the kidneys cannot prevent water excretion, and instead of concentrated urine, diluted urine is excreted out of the body. It should be noted that Diabetes Insipidus is not the same as diabetes, but both conditions can lead to constant urination.
It is generally observed that people with DI have normal blood sugar, but they may have an electrolyte imbalance. The excretion of the excess water leads to the drain of salt from the body. The root cause of DI is the lack of ADH, which is a hormone produced by the hypothalamus in the brain. This can also be because of head injury, genetic problems, brain infection, autoimmune disease, brain surgery and tumours.
DI is a very common abbreviation, and many different full forms are associated with DI.
