DHO full form in medical term is District Health Officer, also known as medical officer of health, chief health officer, medical health officer, or district medical officer in different countries. DHO is mainly used for a high government official in the health sector at a country/district, municipal, province/state, or regional level. The district health officer position is covered by a healthcare provider who leads a team of public health experts, such as public health nurses and environmental health officers, on subjects of public health importance.
The nationally equivalent senior health officer/specialist is a chief medical officer. However, the role and name differ from country to country. For example, a district health officer in India typically has a minimum MD or MBBS degree from an authorized medical university/institute/college. In addition, they must also register with National Medical Council.
District Health officer means the duly constituted and appointed Health officer for the District and the CEO (chief executive officer of the district), along with the full authority for the direction and management of District associations by Spokane Regional Health District Board of health.
