BPM full form in medical term means Beats per Minute. It is associated with the heart rate and signifies the speed of the heartbeat occurring per minute. BPM is one of the basic metrics to diagnose whether the patient’s body is functioning normally or is facing any abnormalities. Generally, the BPM for every person varies depending on the body’s needs and functioning, for some it may be on a higher note while some may have a lower BPM. It depends on the body’s need to absorb oxygen and release carbon dioxide.
BPM is generally equal to or close to the pulse rate of the body which is generally measured on the wrist by doctors. The ideal BPM for any human being ranges from around 60 to 100 beats per minute with the lower range defining the resting heart rate and the higher range defining the active state. Though in activities and exercise you’ll see your BPM rise to 140-160 which is quite normal during exercise. The major reasons for varied BPM and any imbalance are mainly down to imbalanced sleep patterns, air temperature, fitness levels, diabetes, body position, cardiovascular issues, and the effects of smoking.
