BM full form in medical is basal metabolism or commonly known as BMR or basal metabolism rate. You may have heard of this term during your studies if you are a medical or science student. Otherwise, doctors as well as dietitians also use this term a lot. And it can be said that one’s BM or BMR is low or high. If a person’s BM is low, then there are higher chances that he/she will weigh more than the person whose BM or BMR is on the higher side.
Metabolism is actually the process of breaking down food and using the end product (which is glucose in our case) to use as the food or necessary substance to produce energy inside cells. If the whole breaking down and glucose production process is much faster, then the BM or BMR is referred to as high BMR. And the exact opposite of that is used for low BMR. Sometimes doctors and medical professionals also use the BM acronym for the term bowel movement.
