BCG Full Form in Medical is Bacillus Calmette-Guerin. It’s a vaccine that protects against tuberculosis and increases immunity. The vaccine was developed by two French bacteriologists, Albert Calmette and Camille Guerin.
In 1921, Dr. Weil-Hale used it to treat a kid with tuberculosis for the first time. Over the subsequent three years, until 1924, around 320 infants received the BCG vaccination.
Those at higher risk of developing tuberculosis receive the vaccination, including children with one or both parents infected with the disease, as well as those born in a country where TB is endemic. Those who have bladder cancer or a bladder tumor are also eligible for this benefit.
Mycobacterium Bovis, a strain of bacteria that can cause tuberculosis, is used in the vaccination process.
