AWW full form in medical is Anganwadi Worker. An Anganwadi is a special child care program launched by the government of India in the year 1975, especially for rural areas. And the Anganwadi Workers are responsible for the management of Anganwadi centers all across India. The sole goal of this program is to educate, not just kids below 6 years of age, but it is also to educate parents about their kids’ nutritional needs at an early age. At an Anganwadi center, a kid below 6 years of age can get free education, nutritional meals, and basic health care facilities.
On a timely basis, Anganwadi workers must prepare a chart showing the growth of a kid throughout the years, and they also weigh each child to include the information in the chart or report. Along with that, Anganwadi workers are also responsible for organizing preschool activities to let the kids engage, learn and grow. However, these preschool activities are non-formal. Not just that, every kid from 0 to 6 years of age, who goes to Anganwadi gets proper nutrition and feeding facilities organized by the Anganwadi Workers. There are so many other responsibilities of an Anganwadi worker for the betterment of the kids in rural areas.
