Dr. Devi Prasad is among Bangalore's most recognized cardiothoracic surgeons, and he is regarded as one of the country's top ten cardiologists by the Indian Medical Association. In his more than 35 years of experience, Dr. Shetty has conducted more than 15,200 cardiac surgeries, 4900 of which have been performed on children.

He received his MBBS and MS degrees from the prestigious Kasturba Medical College in Bangalore.

Dr. Devi Prasad Shetty recently accomplished Asia's first lively cardiomyoplasty surgery, in which the heart muscle of the chest wall is used to replace the heart muscle that has been damaged by disease. His expertise includes keyhole heart transplant using a microchip camera, which makes him one of the world's few doctors who can perform this procedure.

For the first time in India, he has used a ventricular assist gadget to temporarily sustain the function of a failing cardiac muscle.
