In recognition of his groundbreaking work in the establishment of liver transplants in India, Dr. A S Soin has conducted more than 2500 donor liver transplants which is also the highest number of transplants performed in any country and the second-highest number of transplants performed anywhere in the world. His team at Medanta also performs approximately 20-25 organ transplants per month, with a success rate of more than 95% in each case.
After 11 years of training at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi, Dr. Arvinder Singh Soin traveled to the United Kingdom and acquired FRCS degrees from both Edinburgh and Glasgow. He then went on to receive 6 years of training in Liver & Biliary Surgery, Kidney transplant, Liver Transplant, Tiny Bowel/Intestinal Transplant, and Pancreas Transplant.
He has worked as a surgical tutor and member of the University of Cambridge's Faculty of Medicine. In addition, he has served as a Visiting Associate at Kyoto University Hospital and Asan Medical Center in Seoul, South Korea, and as a Visiting Faculty member at Edge University in Turkey.
In total, he has written more than 110 original research papers, which have been published in a variety of national & international journals and books, among others. More than 20 national & international awards have been bestowed upon him, including "The Padma Shree," which is the fourth-highest civilian award in the Indian republic for his contributions to the establishment of liver transplants in India.
