The full form of DDHS in medical term is Deputy Director of Health Services.
Through subordinate managers and supervisors, the Deputy Director of Health provides administrative leadership and oversees the administration of public health programs. Family Health, Healthcare for the Homeless, Women, Infants, and Children (WIC), Supplemental Nutrition Programs, Community Health Improvement, Communicable Disease Control, and Emergency Preparedness may all fall under the purview of this role.
Duties and Responsibilities
Discusses the Department of Health’s programs and operations with the Director and Chief of Staff of the Health Department.
In charge of the Health Department’s daily administrative operations.
Acts as the Health Department’s administrative watchdog over grant programs funded by public and private sources.
Controls the process of creating the departmental budget.
Communicates with the City Administration concerning the Department’s administrative activities.
Works collaboratively with the medical profession to accomplish the health department’s mission.
Establish connections with medical facilities that offer urgent care, triage, and public health patient care both inside and outside the boundaries of the health district.
Participates in the formulation of administrative procedures and policies. represents the Health Department in the community and makes suggestions for the organization’s future as a leadership team representative.
Serves as a point of contact for medical federal and state authorities.
Offers clinical personnel and other employees of the health department recurring in-service training.
