FAIS full form in medical term is Female Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome. This condition affects sexual growth during puberty and before childbirth. The conditions can be identified through various symptoms, including persistent unexplained fatigue, diminished sense of well-being, lowered mood, and reduced sexual desire. FAIS’s diagnosis can be based on the signs in the setting of a low serum-free testosterone level.
FAIS can be due to genetic lack or defects on the chromosome, making the body unable to counter the hormones that generate a male appearance. In most cases, AIS is detected during childhood. This may be found with a feeling of developing a groin or abdomen that turns out to be a testicle when seen with surgery. People with the condition are not diagnosed until they have trouble getting pregnant or have missed periods.
This syndrome is distributed into two main parts: Complete and Partial.
In AIS condition: Male body parts and the penis do not develop properly. At the time of birth, the baby looks like a female. In a partial AIS condition, many male characteristics can be detected.
