AFC Full Form in Medical is Antral follicle count. To predict how a woman’s ovaries will react to fertility treatments, an ultrasonography test called antral follicle count can be performed.
Resting follicle count, often called antral follicle count, is a method used to assess ovarian reserve.
An adult female has her entire lifetime supply of eggs in her body from birth. In both number and quality, a woman’s egg supply naturally declines with age.
It is possible to estimate a woman’s remaining egg supply by calculating the numbers of antral follicles in her ovaries. To put it simply, the antral follicle is indeed a fluid-filled bag that contains a developing egg. The AFC count is equal to the number of viable follicles.
Because AFC does not assess ovarian reserve, it cannot foretell the likelihood of a future spontaneous pregnancy.
By the time she is 35, if a woman has not conceived after six months of regular, unprotected sexual activity, she might well be recommended to undergo ovarian reserve testing.
Women of any age who have risk factors for decreased ovarian reserve due to sickness or prior cancer treatment may also be evaluated.
