The full form IDCCM term is ‘Indian Diploma in Critical Care Medicine’. DCCM is a professional designation for students in Pulmonary Medicine, Anaesthesiology/Orthopaedics MD, and DNB Medicine or Anaesthesiology MS for General Surgery or Orthopaedics.
This is a bright course run by the Indian College of Critical Care Medicine whose Head office is in Mumbai. This Diploma Course is divided into two modules of which one for one year course for MD or DNB candidates and the second for 2 years course for the candidates of DA/DTCD or its equivalent students. Earlier this Diploma course was known as a Certificate Course.
The main objective of this course is to develop proper skills and attitudes and practice for optimal, ethical, and ‘patient-centered’ practice in critical care medicine. Another objective is to acquire proper theoretical knowledge of the fundamentals of medical science and its foundations and research.
