LCX full form in Medical term is Left Circumflex Artery. This is an artery of the heart; as the name suggests, it is in the left portion of the weight. It reaches the posterior longitudinal sulcus. This is responsible for supplying blood to the heart muscle. The Left Circumflex Artery encircles the heart muscles completely, and they supply blood to the lateral and back sides of the heart. This is one of the most important arteries in the circulatory system since it provides oxygenated blood to the heart muscles.
The blockage of the Left Circumflex Artery is not visible in ECG. Moreover, narrowing of the Left Circumflex Artery can be worse than blockage in the right coronary artery. Often, the diagnosis of the disease because of the Left Circumflex Artery blockage is complex, and it also delays the angiography. The doctors don’t rule out the possibility of blockage of the Left Circumflex Artery, and hence the treatment is given as per the protocols. To unblock the Left Circumflex Artery, the doctors would provide cardiac catheterization along with angiography and stenting.
